Relocating – The Real Issues That Movers Face

Buying, selling, renting and relocating – I've done it all many times over. Because I had one of those careers which meant I had to move every few years, I've lived in nearly every state in Australia more than once. Now retired and settled down, I blog about real estate and the real issues that anyone who is moving comes up against. Full of advice, my blog takes a look at relocating from the point of view of the mover and tries to offer as many insights from my past experiences dealing with lawyers, estate agents, removals firms and other house buyers as possible! Read on if you're moving or thinking about doing so.

Winter Hibernation Is Over - Is Your Property Ready To Sell In Spring?

Eduardo Parker

Nobody likes leaving the house during winter. Who wants to battle the cold outside when you can rug up and hang out inside. However, now that spring is here in Australia, the temperature is warming, the birds are singing, and new life is appearing in the garden. As someone who wants to sell their house and get settled into a new home before Christmas, now is the perfect time to put your property on the market. But, is it ready for open home inspections? Here are two quick things you can do to increase the appeal of your home right now.

Landscape Maintenance

Homes which have maintained gardens are appealing to buyers at this time of year. Not only is a prospective buyer looking to see what type of outdoor entertaining they can do over summer, but they are also checking out your trees to make sure they are not potentially a hazard during the summer storms. Before putting the house on the market, consider doing these minimum outdoor tasks:

  • clear gutters of leaves and debris
  • have dead limbs trimmed from trees
  • spread some mulch around garden beds
  • spread garden seed over the bare lawn patches

These four items enhance the immediate visual appeal of your garden, which gives you a positive tick in the mind of a buyer.

Spring Clean With Passion

A tidy home interior shows off the space and assets of the interior of your home. That means your annual spring clean enhances the chance of your house selling quickly. With that idea in mind, get onto your spring chore list sooner rather than later. Declutter your home of excess toys and belongings. If you don't want to dispose of them, either rethink your storage options or hire a storage shed to remove them from the house altogether. Clean the windows inside and out to let the spring sunshine through the glass panes. A tidy, clean house is attractive.

Finally, arrange a real estate agent to come and assess the home before you list it on the market. They can give you further tips about staging a house ready for sale. By having an agent have a tour of the house and make comments about improvements needed, you can get any repairs or maintenance attended to quickly. The sooner you get your house listed onto the market, the better your chance of ringing in the new year in another property.
